On the balconies of Bilbao

They watch
the train
passing,
from the balconies
with washing
and carpets, beating,
leaning
over the balconies: endless blocks
of concrete,
punctuating
the distance of
windows, watching
the parade,
of one
after another
of strains of people:

the watchers,
watched
and cherished.
